Aquarium Cleaning and Care

The thought of having a dozen of brilliantly colored fish swimming gracefully at one corner of our home may be a welcoming thought for many, but it is important to realize that it comes with the huge responsibility of keeping it clean and well maintained as part of your general house cleaning regimen. This is one of the fundamental things you need to do to be able to preserve a well brood of fish swimming gracefully in your home for a long time. They are very fragile creatures that need daily weekly and monthly care care to ensure they are well and happy.

What To Clean Every Day

Here are some daily actions to do to keep your collection of marine friends healthy and happy. Check to see if the temperature is consistent because this is the first step to good maintenance habit for your aquarium. All tropical freshwater fish needs a temperature of round seventy seven degrees to stay well and alive. Algae will grow if too much warmth is present so perform daily checks for unwell or dead fish. Promptly withdraw sick fish from the tank and then check the pumps and filters to see if they are working well.

Weekly Cleaning Task

Weekly upkeep is a must to ensure your inhabitants stay healthy and happy. withdraw the water from the gravel using a siphon tube. If you withdraw any water, be sure to replace them to allow the same water level to be maintained.Chlorine and other chemicals must be added weekly to preserve the same level. The water should be tested for ammonia and nitrate levels Every week - don't forget the pH test too. Tend to live plants Weekly, if you keep any. Trim them down if it gets too big and get rid of any dead leaves or sick leaves. water snails are pest that you don't need so check and see if they exist. Use a piece of lettuce to draw out the water snails in the tank - the snails will attach themselves to the leaf and you can get rid of them safely and easily.

The Monthly Cleaning Routine

This segment will discuss on the importance of monthly care and care for your fish tank. Partial water change is the first step. Remember, twenty to twenty five percent of the water needs to be withdrawn using a siphon hose. Just be very careful about the chemical content in the water - remember, be extra cautious about the chemical content in the water. Should the level of chlorine or ammonia becomes too high, the fish will die. Now clean the filter and change the filter cartridge. Don't overdo with the cleaning job though, you will be taking away bacteria that are useful to preserve the chemical equilibrium in the water! Try to remove as much algae as possible from the aquarium and perhaps an algae eater will be a good addition to the aquarium.

Check to see if there is too much heat around the aquarium. Should heat sources be present, the growth of algae will increase dramatically. If there is too much warmth in one location, withdraw the tank and find a new location. A proper care schedule is fundamental to ensure your fish will stay with you for a long time. Fish tank care needs time and effort. Through the proper care and nurture, your aquatic friends will not only be well and happy but you will be rewarded with a dazzling collection of graceful creatures swimming about happily in the corner of your home.
